Despite the good and the bad on the field, off the field is not good! The attendance this saturday was 207 which for a conference south side is poor. Something needs to change. Towards the end of last season, we were getting average attendance of around 300 so where have those people gone? this is just my personal view but with those attendances we will struggle to stay up this season because of the lack of support for the club. Does anyone have any ideas that they can put forward to the club to try and get people watching?

Partnerships with local sports clubs, mainly cricket, encourage members of a club to come down with a discount or deal etc?

I say cricket as many cricketers will have free Saturdays in the winter...

The rise in gate prices probably has something to do with attendances falling

or maybe people are just on holiday....just a thought, it is the middle of the school summer holidays! Anyway we have been down this road so many times a bit boring now, if we have a good cup run it might get a few more down, other than that it is up to the club to do something as at the end of the day they are a business. I like the £8 deal for under 24's, things like that can only help.

We've done it a few times and its been successful, go to some local kids teams and get them to be mascots for a game or have them play on the pitch at half time... Everyone and their mums all pay to watch their day out and a good chance the kids would want to come again the week after

Also would it hurt for the club to try and publicise the games a little more? Breeze radio? Few posters around? A lot of people may not have known the season started Saturday

i would say the attendance has always been poor due to a lack of publicity, but the drop off can be attributed to the joke changes to the prices. for a start i think the increase to £12 was unreasonable and shows a lack of respect for the supporters. it seems as tho someone has said if we increase the price 20% and lose 10% of supporters we make more money. but the reduced charge for under 24's is a FUCKING JOKE! i support concessions and student prices fully.
last season i went to 6 matches i think most with a friend i work with. who is 22 i'm 28 so to go this season and me to have to pay £2 more and him £2 less for no reason really pisses me off and i wont be going to any matches until the under 24 reduced price is dropped. i mean 18-25 yo's have much more disposable income as they usually live at home!

I would like to point out that we still have the equal cheapest tickets in the league, to my knowledge at least. I have been to a lot of away games in the last 3 or 4 years and I can't recall any grounds being cheaper than ours. Many clubs don't offer fair deals for concessions either.

Also, the under 24 ticket make some business sense, as the club want to make the fan base younger.

im not opposed to concessions on ticket prices but my problem with this is two fold,
1) because 24 seems like such an arbitrary number when 99% of other football grounds would offer the same concession to students which is done for several reasons. a student id to check for validity, how do you check someone is UNDER 24? no id no discount?. students are likely to be more cash strapped so it will encourage them, like i said before allot of under 24's have MORE disposable income. 2) putting the price down by the same as they increase the price for all the other fans in such a harsh economical climate just makes it look like "we want younger fans so we will make you pay the extra and see if that gets them in" there are many many far more effective ways to build a younger fan base. 24 is far to late to be trying to breed lifelong supports!

Why don't you just go to five games, that will cost the same as last year....perhaps you could also go to the game the club kindly provides free entry to (just to piss off the season ticket holders), that way you will see the same amount of football for the same price as last year. Your mate can come to an extra game and maybe buy four half time draw tickets with his remaining four pounds.....I'd piss myself laughing if he won though.......how FUCKING ANGRY would you be then?

So people complain because the club gets small crowds and when they try to do something about it they complain even more. The "Free" game was supposed to raise funds for our junior teams wasn't it? The bloke in front of me chucked 5p in the buckets and I heard season ticket holders moaning about getting in for free. For gods sake it was to raise money towards the future of the club.. Some people are never happy unless they are moaning.
Every club has local promotions, get over it

i was the game on bank holiday Monday and the attendance didn't look much better. anyone know the official figure? but maybe it had something to do with the horrendous road works that made it a nightmare to walk from the train station?
