just announced....
"Luke Purnell has signed a one year contract. The club would have liked a 2 year deal but Luke does not yet know where his main teaching role will take him after this initial year. Dayle Grubb has been reengaged for a further year under the Bosman rule. Joe McClennan has signed non contract forms. The former Bristol City youngster was at Chippenham Town last season and can play on either wing. He has also played for Gloucester City and Bridgwater Town. Micky Bell First Team Coach said ‘ I’m very pleased that players are signing on again. I am also pleased to have Joe on board he is a really good prospect. He did well in the Southern League last year and look forward to seeing him in action. Discussions are currently being held with more of last season players and potential newcomers to the Club. It is likely that more singings will be announced shortly. There has been a considerable interest in joining the Seagulls from players"
could have a decent 5 a side team soon!

Grubby has no choice but to stay, on the Bosman ruling a club would have to pay for him... Think he would be gone otherwise.

Grubby has no choice but to stay, on the Bosman ruling a club would have to pay for him... Think he would be gone otherwise. he must be on a contract then because the Bosman ruling means he is free to move wherever he wants when out of contract for no transfer fee . Unless he was free to move and chose to stay out of loyalty and thanks to the club that made him the player he is, unlike those that chose to jump ship at the first chance given to them, most of whom were playing at a lower level before being given a chance here. And while the manager is bringing in players from chippenham town it might be a good idea to bring back Jake Harris and Pete Monks.

SteveH- I believe the players probably left because THEIR manager was given no alternative than to leave. Jumping ship?! I would say more so leaving the circus. The club is turning into a shambles.

Dale is on a contract, has been for a few years. Under the Bosman rule, if the club offer him the same of better terms he has to sign until aged 24, unless a club buys him. He is 24 this coming season, I'd be surprised if he was at Weston next season. As for players jumping ship, that is unfair on the character of the players that have left to further their careers, rather than stay at club with the smallest budget in the league that has been cut a further 37%. Those players have been very loyal in my opinion and I think the club will realise how lucky they have been over the last few seasons.

Bishop Stortford have just announced they will have the smallest budget in the league ... so please can you stop using this as an excuse and remember that without the 'small' budget provided by Bliss we wouldn't have a club at all. And as for furthering their careers most of them have moved to lower league clubs.

Is that supposed to be a joke? With the amount of money Stortford get from Arsenal, I would say that they would definitely be in the top half, in terms of budget, if not the top 2 or 3.

Read the non-league paper that's what their manager said.

You can't surely believe Bishop Stortford have a lower budget than Weston... I agree that some players have gone lower, but I would imagine that they have gone for more money and those that have gone to Bath have gone to a bigger club with aspirations of promotion.
