straight from unreliable face(book) of the club! apparently to save money in next years budget. cant say i am sad to see the back of rob boyd! but i will miss mcgreggor's animated ranting at the ref. maybe this will mean laird will have to get up of the bench during a match and show some emotion?

I wouldn't be surprised if we see the whole lot leave now, players and backroom staff! They deserve a lot more than they where getting. Good luck Mark and Rob, genuine blokes when i spoke to you and obviously good servants to the club. Very sad day for Weston Super Mare Fc. I shall not be paying to watch next season if some of the lads are forced out by bad treatment from the board! I really hope Laird can keep all of the lads together otherwise i feel a certain relegation around the corner!

Sad news but not unexpected. The board have, yet again, cut the budget for next year and Macca and Boyd have stood aside to allow more money to be available to the players. I would guess that they won't be the last to go and we could end up playing an U-18s team next season.
Bliss has done a hell of a lot for the club, over the years but we have now reached the point were we either need sustained investment to push forward or we go backwards and Bliss doesn't seem to be prepared to make that investment.

You cant blame him, it costs a lot to run a club and we don't have the support to sustain it without him .

Clubs with smaller support bases than ours have much larger budgets, clubs in lower divisions have bigger budgets. There are many ways to bring money into the club but Bliss has refused to even try any of them. I have personally put forward several ideas, over the last few seasons and not had so much as a response from the club, never mind actually doing anything. As I said in my previous post, we have now reached a position were we decide to push on or decide to go backwards.

Might not be too far from the truth Steve, A lot of value in the land the club sits on - don't forget Bliss was looking to relocate last year !

Latest from the club:
"FURTHER STATEMENT FROM THE CHAIRMAN ON MARC MCGREGOR The Club is still working on developing their facilities and when this happens we will be able to make bigger steps forward. At this point if Marc was still interested in being involved at Weston football club the door would be open to him"
Sorry but WTF does that mean? Are they regretting the decision to get rid of him and doing a u-turn like they did with Lairdy or are they saying he can come back but not get paid or something else. You could read anything or nothing into that statement.

what a shame ,wouldn't be surprised if laird left anytime soon and a host of our better players , oh well seems that would suit a few on these boards fine if thats the case i hate to think what we will be served up next season !!!

Personally I believe that Craig Laird has been screwed over by the Board in his attempts to Achieve Conference Premier football. We have the situation where Paul Bliss grants a budget for the season, a budget where we have only 7 contract players. Some players such as Ben Kirk were offered better wages at lower League clubs but stayed in the hope of gaining promotion. So we now have half a team of contract players and the rest of the squad non-contract, making fielding a settled eleven near impossible ! The non-contract players are playing in the hope of attracting a contract from a higher League club which means a high turnover of players. Meanwhile, any transfer fee from contracted players goes straight into Paul Bliss's pocket to offset the money he is putting into the club so there is no investment in the squad when a player leaves ! After a good start to the season (at one time we were second), the EGM was called and Paul Bliss pulled the rug from under Craig Laird's feet. we had the ludicrous situation of not being able to play our best side because it was outside of the amended wage budget. As a consequence we stumbled to eleventh place under impossible conditions despite the magnificent efforts of Craig and the players. The blame for this chaos lies squarely at the feet of Paul Bliss, he doesn't want to put more money in and he doesn't want outside investment to impinge on his little kingdom ! Now we have this BS about making more steps forward - probably in a cynical attempt to sell season tickets ! Anyone who buys a season ticket is taking a big chance on what may be served up next season, you can't keep asking these boys to give and give some more when there is no reward. Only a winning team with agressive advertising and incentives from the club will help attendances rise but I don't believe the Board are interested in that - they would rather have total and unquestionable control !

Think they may be available through 'Capille & Stephens' at their premises ! Wonder if they might be replacing McGregor and Boyd ?

Really id class Jamie laird as one of our better players ...wouldnt you, anyway i think its all immaterial now with this mornings announcement iam preparing for the mass exodus of non contracted players which will leave us with a decent couple of players plus academy players its goning to be a hard slog next season , wonder what the normal suspects will be moaning at then??
